RESEARCH
“I rely on clear headings, simplified layouts, and step-by-step guidance to interact with any digital content.” - interviewee #2, 67 years old
Based on our research, we discovered that numerous users encountered difficulties in accessing crucial support measures or reaching out to cruise personnel to address their unique accessibility requirements. As a result, the process of planning and preparing for their voyage became complicated. Furthermore, they encountered various challenges in accessing available accommodations such as reserving tables at restaurants or booking excursions at specific destinations, which resulted in an overall frustrating experience for users who relied on special assistance.
PERSONA
From here we developed Martha, our user persona, to gain a comprehensive understanding of our target user group. Martha helps us identify their needs and potential pain points, enabling us to design with a focused vision and a clear sense of purpose. By leveraging Martha's insights, we can create an app that truly addresses the challenges and requirements of our target users.
USER FLOW
Drawing on the valuable insights gathered from our user persona, our team embarked on the creation of a user flow that effectively addresses the key interactions of reserving a restaurant and booking an excursion on the cruise app. By developing this user flow, we aim to streamline and expedite these processes, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our users. Additionally, this user flow serves as a foundation for our subsequent lo-fidelity sketches, enabling us to visualize and refine the app's design further.
LO-FIDELITY SKETCHES
After concluding the user research phase, our team initiated the ideation process for the app design by creating lo-fidelity sketches, with a specific emphasis on the crucial interactions related to dining and excursion booking. The example sketch provided above illustrates one of these early-stage designs. This approach facilitates a seamless progression towards developing mid-fidelity greyscale wireframes, which will serve as the blueprint for our developers as they embark on the coding phase, bringing these essential features to life.
WIREFRAMES
Above is the user flow for onboard dinner reservations, meticulously crafted to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience for our users. To ensure alignment with our design methodologies, we included insightful notes throughout the user flow, providing valuable guidance to our developers. This collaborative approach aims to maintain clear communication and ensure that we remain on the same page throughout the development process.

USABILITY TESTING
The results of the usability tests were encouraging, as we observed a notable improvement in users' ability to successfully complete tasks such as performing a cleanup and accessing the leaderboard to view their rankings. This positive outcome demonstrated that users could navigate the app effortlessly, without encountering any significant challenges or frustrations. These findings confirmed that our app offers an intuitive user experience, enabling users to effortlessly reach their intended destinations within the app.
